The two most common surgical weight-loss procedures are the adjustable gastric banding and gastric bypass. In the majority of cases, we perform both procedures laparoscopically, which is a minimally invasive technique compared to regular open surgery.
Lap Banding
The Adjustable Gastric Band, commonly referred to as Lap-Band® or a RealizeTM band, is the newest, simplest and least invasive surgical weight-loss procedure. Approved by the FDA in June 2001, the gastric band is used to reduce the size of the stomach by positioning it around the upper part of the stomach. This forms a small gastric pouch that holds a smaller amount of food, creating the sensation of fullness sooner and for a longer period of time.

Gastric Bypass
The Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass (RGB) operation is the most commonly performed surgical weight loss procedure. It is considered to be one of the most effective and long-lasting solutions for obesity in the world today.
A small pouch is created by dividing the stomach, thereby restricting the amount of food that you can consume. Next, a section of the small intestine is attached to the pouch, allowing food to bypass the upper gastral intestinal tract. This dramatically reduces the amount of food—and nutrients—that your body can absorb.

Sleeve
Vertical sleeve gastrectomy (VSG) can help individuals lose large amounts of weight by surgically
removing a significant portion of the stomach.
