Fast Track Process at Alexian Advanced Weight Solutions

Our Tests, Treatments and Therapies

Prior to bariatric surgery on the Fast Track, our streamlined Freedom to Live program prepares you to understand surgical risks and benefits, diet progression, and psychological readiness that is required prior to weight loss surgery.

The Freedom to Live program includes the following steps:

  • You'll attend an informational seminar that explains the surgical process, as well as the recovery and health implications of your treatment.
  • During your consultation, your surgeon will personally explain the treatment that's best for your needs and will discuss surgical risks and benefits.
  • A pulmonary expert will evaluate your lungs and ability to breathe efficiently. If a sleep study is required, it may exclude you from the Fast Track option due to time involved and possible multiple visits.
  • A dietitian will then introduce you to the dietary requirements and restrictions that you will have following surgery.
  • A psychological evaluation assesses your readiness for surgery and the lifestyle changes required after your procedure.
  • We also require attendance at our support group prior to surgery.
  • There are also standard tests, such as blood work, EKG, Chest X-Ray, Upper GI, and an Abdominal Ultrasound that our surgical team requires to ensure the best possible result for your surgery.
Participation in ongoing support groups and continuing education programs will be expected as part of your post-surgical recovery.

The Fast Track program for bariatric surgery is for those patients who:

  • Have already completed some of the steps described above
  • Have already been approved for weight loss surgery by their insurance company
  • Plan on paying cash for their procedures
