About the Asthma Education Program
St. Alexius Medical Center has an in-house and outpatient asthma education program. The program is run by certified asthma educator and registered respiratory therapist, Kristen Szymonik. Every patient admitted with a diagnosis of asthma at St. Alexius Medical Center is educated on identifying symptoms, triggers, environmental controls, and school issues. Patients are also instructed on the proper way to use inhalers and peak flow meters.

Asthma: Fact, Myth and Management Class

January 21, April 15, July 15, October 21 2010
This is a complete asthma management class conducted by certified asthma educators. The class covers medication, allergies, environmental controls, school issues, asthma triggers and proper use of peak flows and spacers. Stay after class for one-on-one time with the asthma educators.
