Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Alexian Pharmacy Services

The NICU pharmacist meets all the qualifications of pharmacists in inpatient and outpatient pharmacy services. This means that the Alexian NICU pharmacist fulfills the following requirements:
- Completes five-to-six years of education in an accredited university-based pharmacy program
- Is registered and licensed to practice in the state of Illinois
- Receives ongoing training on new medications
- Completes an annual competency exam
- Is continually updated on issues such as infection control, medication safety and security concerns
The NICU pharmacist also receives special ongoing training about new medications for infants and the latest procedures for delivering those medications.
