Multidisciplinary Team
A team led by Tseghai Berhe, M.D., includes specially trained nurses, educators and dieticians. The team works with the patient and family to assess and develop a comprehensive treatment plan for each child. Dr. Berhe works closely with family physicians to coordinate the care pathway.
Specialized Clinics
Fast Track Insulin Pump Starts
Newly diagnosed diabetics are prepared emotionally, medically and nutritionally to begin insulin pump therapy. Insulin pumps have proven to be less disruptive to the lives of families and allow for children to resume regular activities, sports and school.
Growth Hormone Concerns
Thorough examination and workup for children who are experiencing delays in growth due to issues such as small for gestational age, delayed bone age and short stature and offers multiple medical and nutritional approaches in treatment. Outpatients are treated on 5 West and account for approximately 250 Outpatients in Inpatient Beds at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, Illinois.
Early Puberty
Current methods of therapy for precocious puberty including the use of implants to replace monthly injections for early puberty in some patients.
Pediatric Weight Management Program
Comprehensive nutrition, physical activity and support program designed with the entire family in mind. Our team of health professionals will help your family identify realistic goals for making positive lifestyle changes.
