Comprehensive Evaluation and Customized Treatment Plan
Our caring and skilled memory disorder experts help patients and their families understand the underlying causes of memory loss and guide them through the memory assessment process.
Expert Memory Assessment
Memory assessment begins with a complete examination of your loved one's neurological function, memory, speech, and reasoning ability. The initial clinical impression is complemented with a neuropsychological evaluation, which involves a more detailed assessment of cognitive and behavioral functions. This comprehensive evaluation helps determine a diagnosis, identify possible treatments, and contribute to decisions about your loved one's prognosis, rehabilitation potential, assessment of independence, need for special services, and educational or vocational options.
Memory Function Evaluation
A series of forms and questionnaires are sent to the patient and family to be completed before the initial meeting with the doctor.
First Meeting with the Doctor
The doctor interviews the patient and family about the patient’s medical history. The information gained from completed forms and questionnaires is reviewed. You are encouraged to discuss any questions and concerns at this meeting.
Diagnostic Testing
The doctor may prescribe blood work, imaging studies, and/or neuropsychological testing. In most cases, these tests can be done on-site the same day.
Customized Memory Loss Treatment Plan
Our board-certified neurologist provides the patient’s personal physician with an accurate diagnosis, a personalized memory loss treatment plan, and a strategy for managing the memory disorder or underlying condition. While the patient’s personal physician oversees general medical conditions, our memory disorder experts manage both cognitive and behavioral symptoms. Together the physicians collaborate in patient care.
Follow-up
Neuropsychological assessment is repeated as needed to monitor your loved one's status.
