The Illinois Magnetoencephalography (MEG) Center at the Alexian Brothers Neurosciences Institute is the first in Illinois to provide patients with direct access to MEG technology. Our center houses one of only 30 MEG systems in the country. At the Illinois MEG Center, you have access to brain functional imaging technology and expertise equal to some of the nations’ most elite medical institutions, such as Harvard and the National Institutes of Health.

The primary mission of the Illinois MEG Center is to aid physicians in planning the best treatments for patients with epilepsy, vascular malformations, and brain tumors. To achieve the most successful outcomes and minimal postsurgical complications, it is critical to define precisely the spatial relationships between damaged and healthy areas of the brain for each patient. MEG enables us to do this safely and accurately.
