Phil Gorelick, M.D., is the Medical Director of the Alexian Brothers Stroke Center, and Professor and Head of the Department of Neurology and Rehabilitation at the University of Illinois College of Medicine at Chicago. He has received funding from the NIH since 1987 for studies on stroke prevention and dementia. He received the Feinberg Award for Excellence in Clinical Stroke in 2004 from the American Heart Association and the National Stroke Association's "Visionary in Stroke" Award. He has also held the Daniel Gainey Professorship 2005 at Mayo Clinic and the Henry Barnett 2005 Lectureship from the Canadian Stroke Network. He has been cited as one of the top stroke neurologists in the United States and is a member of numerous advisory boards, including those for the National Stroke Association and American Stroke Association.
