Institutional Review Board

About the Institutional Review Board

An Institutional Review Board (IRB) is an independent body of medical, scientific, and community members who are responsible for ensuring the rights, safety, and well- being of human subjects involved in clinical trials.

The IRB has been formally designated to review and approve all research studies conducted with the Alexian Brothers Hospital Network.  The authority of the IRB is derived from both federal laws and institutional policy.  This policy grants the IRB jurisdiction and authority to the fullest extent needed in order to conduct its reviews and other activities in such a manner as to provide adequate protection to human research subjects.

The policies and procedures of Alexian Brothers Hospital Network’s IRB are posted on this site.  Also available are the meeting schedule and IRB forms, including applications.
