Alexian Brothers Outpatient Rehabilitation Services, in partnership with the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC), provide Lymphedema Management Services that offer convenient access to the same expert care that has earned RIC the ranking of "Best Rehabilitation Hospital in America" by U.S. News & World Report every year since 1991.

Alexian Rehabilitation therapists are certified in treating men and women with either primary or secondary lymphedema.  Causes of lymphedema include:

  • Underdevelopment of the lymphatic system      
  • Breast or abdominal surgery with lymph node removal
  • Radiation Treatment
  • Infection or trauma to the lymphatic system

Easy Referral Process

  • Fast and easy referral process
  • A prescription from a physician is required. The prescription should state, "Physical Therapy for Lymphedema Management" and should also indicate the client's diagnosis.
  • We accept most major health plans, including Medicare and Medicaid
  • Appointment availability that will accommodate the client's schedule, usually within one week of referral
  • Customized care plans to help each person take charge of his/her lymphedema, enjoy an active lifestyle, and achieve his/her goals
  • Regular communication with the referring physician
