Our Tests, Treatments, and Therapies

Designed to help treat and relieve lymphedema symptoms, Alexian Rehabilitation Hospital's Lymphedema services uses Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD), a gentle yet precise massage technique that mobilizes excess tissue fluid and promotes normal functioning of the lymphatic system. Therapeutic MLD reduces swelling and pain and facilitates recovery.

In addition to MLD, you will receive a comprehensive evaluation in a supportive outpatient environment with convenient access to uniquely individualized services that may include any or all of the following: 

• Education in self-management strategies
• Exercise to increase lymphatic flow
• Intermittent compression pump therapy to enhance venous and lymphatic fluid flow
• Multi-Layered Bandaging System to treat leg ulcers
• Compression garment fitting to lessen swelling
• Support Group and Patient/Family Resources (LIFE Center)
