Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health Partners with Harper College
Take a Harper College Class at Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health. Studies have shown that participation in supported education is the single-most consistent and significant predictor of successful employment. Being a student is an important and meaningful role. Education provides a sense of accomplishment and purpose.
We are partnering with Harper College to offer college-level classes at Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health taught by Harper College faculty.
Adult Employment Skills
This eight week class will be taught by Stacey Watson from Harper College every Tuesday starting September 27th through November 15, 2011 from 4:00-6:00 in the computer room at Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health, 3350 Salt Creek Lane, Unit 114 in Arlington Heights, Illinois.
Registration: Cost of the class is $150 (payable in advance). Please make check out to ABCMH. Registration will be open until September 20th, or until the class is full.
Employment skills that will be covered in class will be:
- Basic employment skills, including on-the-job communication and job search strategies
- Vocabulary--listening, speaking and literacy skills necessary for entry-level jobs in restaurant, hotel, factory/warehouse, office and other settings
- Job search skills such as understanding applications, want ads, components of a resume and basic job interviews.
- Awareness of workers' rights, responsibilities and health and safety issues in the workplace.
