Spiritual Care at Alexian Center for Mental Health

Our Tests, Treatments, and Therapies

At the Alexian Center for Mental Health, our Spiritual Care Program consists of:

  • Individualized spiritual care and counseling by our Chaplain
  • Spirituality groups on a variety of topics through an interfaith perspective
    • Groups address both personal spiritual issues raised by members of the group and specific topics related to spirituality (finding hope, how to pray, grief and loss, guilt and shame, forming connections with a faith community, etc.)
    • Spirituality groups also talk about inspirational topics and discuss spiritual affirmations, sources or strength, or finding meaning and purpose in life.
  • Family services such as consultations or spiritual day-retreats

When appropriate, parish or congregational resources are joined with Chaplaincy to further support clients and their families.  For example, our Chaplain seeks out and responds to parishes or congregations that have questions regarding faith and mental health or want to develop more support for their members that suffer from mental illness.  Additionally, our Chaplain and staff have provided consultation to parishes and congregations forming their own mental health ministries.
