Letter from Steven
Dear Sir / Madam,
My name is Steven Russell and I have been seeing a counselor at
Alexian Center for Mental Health approximately once a month for the last
2 years. I was also a member of the NAMI group meetings on Monday
nights. In the second half of 2008 I decided to restart my education
with a degree in Cardiac Technology at Harper, inspired by a family
member who took the same path. Serendipitously shortly after, Maxine
Goldstein from the Alexian Center contacted me and asked if I would be
interested in a college orientation class offered at the center, by a
faculty member of Harper. I jumped at the chance. It was there that I met
Stacey Watson of Access and Disabilities services for Harper. Many of my
questions were answered during the course of that class, and I earned a
college credit from it as an added bonus. Two semesters later after
getting A's and B's, I was selected to receive the Tom Thompson award
for achievement through ADS. Now I have been accepted into the Cardiac
Tech program and can begin my studies.
Sincerely,
Steven Russell
