HUD Program
Catholic Charities, the Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health (ABCMH), and HUD (The Department of Housing and UrbanĀ Development) are pleased to announce the opening of a joint project designed to provide permanent supportive housing for homeless individuals with disabilities wishing to live in the northwest suburbs of Cook County.
The project consists of 16 units of scattered site housing, accommodating a total of 19 individuals. The facilities are located in Arlington Heights and surrounding towns within the Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health's service area. Individuals accepted into this program are expected to contribute 30% of their adjusted monthly income towards their housing costs.
Alexian Brothers Center for Mental Health will be providing wrap-around psychiatric supports including psychiatric evaluations, medication management, individual counseling, case management, daily living skills development, community supports other recovery-oriented services and advocacy.
During the two week open enrollment period, over 70 applications were received, of which 19 individuals were placed, and a waiting list was created with the remaining applicants.
