Alexian Center for Mental Health offers specialized programming and services that include:

  • Daily therapeutic groups to improve independent decision making and functioning
  • Child, adolescent, adult, and older adult specialty care
  • Psychiatric evaluation and medication monitoring
  • Referral to inpatient and community care
  • Outpatient counseling
  • 24-hour crisis intervention
  • Residential and supportive living
  • Vocational assistance and training
  • Chaplaincy for pastoral, worship, spiritual, and sacramental needs of clients

Alexian Center for Mental Health is accredited by Joint Commission and certified by Medicare and Medicaid. We accept Medicare, Medicaid, and AllKids, as well as other insurance company reimbursements. We also offer a sliding scale fee for residents of Palatine and Wheeling townships.

We are supported in part by United Way, Illinois Department of Human Services, Palatine Township, and Wheeling Township.

Our Philosophy

Our vision is to partner with our clients in their rehabilitation from serious mental illness, thereby improving the health of the whole community. We promote healing of the whole person-body, mind and spirit, through physical, psychosocial, and spiritual care of those whose lives we touch.

Our History

Alexian Center for Mental Health opened its doors to the community in 1962 providing holistic and compassionate services to those with emotional problems or chronic mental illness in Chicago's northwest suburbs. Our staff of 70 specialized professionals works with over 2,500 clients every year offering psychosocial rehabilitation, case management, psychiatry, supportive living, vocational assistance, outpatient therapy, and a women's program.
