Become a Volunteer
Volunteering at ABMC can be an enjoyable and educational experience. More importantly it is a commitment to our community which we hope you will find rewarding. By consistently being at your assignment, every week during your assigned shift you will be providing much needed support to staff and other volunteers caring for patients and visitors who need your help. If this sounds like the kind of opportunity you’re looking for and you are able to make this commitment read on to learn how to become a volunteer at Alexian Brothers Medical Center.
Becoming a volunteer is a straight forward process.
- Attend an information session;
- Complete an interview
- Have your ID badge picture taken
- Complete health test requirements
- Undergo a criminal background check
- Attend the orientation where you’ll purchase and receive your uniform vest or jacket
Typically you will start the week after orientation, provided that you've successfully completed all the requirements. Failure to complete each step within the required amount of time will make you ineligible to volunteer with us at that time. Learn more about the requirements.
Becoming a volunteer takes 7 weeks from information session to your start date. If you’re willing to put in the time and effort to become a volunteer, we promise it will be worth your time!
New potential volunteers should register for the next available information session.
Returning volunteers, please fill out a Returning Volunteer Form. We recommend you complete this
several weeks prior to your expected date of availability.
We also offer a student summer program for those who are unable to make the
time commitment during the rest of the year.
