2009 Beacon Award Presented to Alexian Brothers Medical Center Critical Care and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Units
Alexian Brothers Medical Center has been granted the 2009 Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence. This coveted award recognizes critical care units that demonstrate excellence through best practices, stronger teamwork, higher morale, better patient care, and improved patient outcomes. There are estimated 6,000 intensive care units in the United States and only 134 that have been given this prestigious award. Alexian Brothers Medical Center's Critical Care and Cardiovascular Intensive Critical Care units are the third and fourth critical care units in Illinois to achieve this high honor.
The Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence is granted to the nation's top adult critical care, pediatric critical care, and progressive care units. Because it provides units a way to measure their systems, outcomes and environment, this award is increasingly linked to patient safety initiatives.
The ICU/CCU nurses take pride in their work and the teamwork that it takes to accomplish outstanding outcomes. The Beacon Award is a tangible way for the hard work and dedication of these fine units to be recognized not only at Alexian Brothers Medical Center , but also nationally among their peers.
