Alexian Brothers "Beyond the Yellow Ribbon" Program a Success!
The Alexian Brothers CME Department sponsored a National Conference for Veterans health held at the Stonegate Conference Center in Hoffman Estates on Saturday, June 27, 2009.

This program brought together physicians and nearly 400 allied health members with the goal to assist these professionals better understand more comprehensively what combat veterans have experienced and its effect on military families.

During the conference, participants heard from such distinguished speakers as: Retired Lt. Gen Russel L. Honore, Tammy Duckworth, Assistant Secretary of Public and Intergovernmental Affairs for the Department of Veterans Affairs, Daniel W. Grant, Director of the Illinois Department of Veterans Affairs, Heide Squire Kraft, Ph.D., Ed Martinez, James P. Cole, Jr., M.D., D.O., F.A.C.S., Robert Koffman, M.D., M.P.H. Peter Gutierrez, Ph.D., David Snowdon and Jessica Martinez-Pompa, BSN. And from the Alexian Brothers Hospital Network, Brother Danny McCormick, C.F.A., Patrick McGrath, Ph.D. Kathleen Prunty, MBA, R.O.D.P., Jeffery Lewine, Ph.D., and Gary Deen. In addition to the presentations, participants were able to experience the Virtual Iraq Simulation Demo, see examples of "Ready to Eat" Meals, view Military Humvees and Armor/Clothing, try on protective gear, and receive information from many helpful exhibits.
