Simon Jencius

Simon Jencius is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) who provides cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and exposure with response prevention treatments (ERP). He trained at the University of Illinois at Chicago, the University of Vienna, Austria, and Benedictine University. Simon works with clients who suffer from various anxiety disorders including panic disorder, agoraphobia, specific phobia, obsessive-compulsive disorder, social phobia, generalized anxiety disorder, and posttraumatic stress disorder.
He first worked as an intern and then as a full-time employee under the supervision of Patrick McGrath, Ph.D. Under the supervision of John Calamari, Ph.D., he is a Behavior Therapy Institute Graduate and a certified treatment provider through The International Obsessive Compulsive Foundation (IOCDF). Simon uses these evidence-based practices to provide his clients with the most effective treatment modalities to maximize their treatment experience and reach their personal goals.
He has had several peer-reviewed publications including the Hellenic Journal of Psychology (Cervone, Jencius, & Shadel, 2002), Personality and Social Psychology Review (Cervone, Shadel, & Jencius, 2001), Drug and Alcohol Dependence (Lott & Jencius, 2009), and Journal of Anxiety Disorders (Fergus, Valentiner, McGrath, Stephenson, Gier, & Jencius, 2009). Simon also coauthored a book on stress management (Stollreiter, Voelgyfy, & Jencius, 2000).
He conducted an extensive idiographic study on social-cognitive theory, personality assessment, self-knowledge, and self-efficacy beliefs and has presented the preliminary findings at a number of professional conferences for the European Association of Personality Psychology, British Psychological Society, International Society for System Sciences, Society for Chaos Theory in Psychology and the Life Sciences, and Association for Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies.
