Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital
DUI Program

Services

The DUI Program at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital offers services for all three risk levels (Level I, II, and III) and provides Alcohol and Drug Evaluations for court, Secretary of State, and professional purposes. The program is licensed by the state of Illinois Department of Human Services to provide Evaluations and Education, and the Illinois Department of Public Health to provide outpatient Substance Abuse Treatment . One or all provided services are required of persons after being charged with DUI in the state of Illinois.

Some Recent Changes to Illinois DUI Law (as of 2009):
  • Driving suspension periods doubled   This means that drivers with a .08 or higher blood alcohol content (BAC) will automatically have their driving privileges suspended for 6 months instead of 3 months - regardless of the outcome of their DUI case. In addition, drivers who refuse to submit to testing will have their driving privileges suspended for one full year.
  • BAIID instead of JDP  Persons wanting to drive during their suspensions will be required to install Breath Alcohol Interlock Devices (BAIID) in their cars. This change in the DUI law has delayed drivers obtaining Alcohol and Drug Evaluations, previously required to obtain a Judicial Driving Permit (JDP) through Central States Institute (CSI) for Cook County of Illinois.
