Gambling Addiction Warning Signs
- Thoughts of gambling or betting have caused you to lose sleep
- Increased time spent gambling or betting - including increased time in order to achieve excitement
- Feeling irritable or restless when attempting to cut down on gambling or control dollar amount spent
- Using gambling to escape from problems in life
- Using gambling to change mood (relieve depression, anxiety, feelings of guilt, etc.)
- Using income or savings to gamble while letting bills go unpaid
- Borrowing money to finance gambling
- Becoming depressed or suicidal because of gambling losses
- After losing money, return to gambling again in effort to recoup losses
- Hiding signs of betting or gambling from loved ones, friends, or others
- Gambling longer than planned or until the last dollar was gone
- Wanting to stop betting money, or gambling, but don't think you can
- Minimize or conceal the extent to which you are involved in gambling
- Jeopardized or lost a significant relationship, job, or career opportunity due to gambling
