Preventing Hospital Acquired Infection Program

Reducing hospital-acquired infections is a major goal in the Alexian Brothers Health System. Health care-associated infections are a concern for every institution especially in light of the recent rise in antibiotic resistance to bacteria.

We continually work with clinical experts to identify evidence-based interventions that include:

  • Aggressive detection of sources of infection within the hospital environment
  • Rigorous isolation of patients known to have infections
  • Appropriate hand hygiene
  • Thorough disinfection of the environment and personal equipment

We strive to greatly exceed the practice the standards that can prevent transmission of organisms that cause infection in the hospital environment.
