Culture of Safety at Alexian Brothers Health System

culture

Alexian Brothers Hospital Network conducts a Culture of Safety survey that measures the perceptions of the strengths and weaknesses of the organization as it pertains to safety issues. This survey is valuable to help improve those clinical areas that need attention. Safety is part of the hospital's culture and is incorporated into the way the organization does business.

We also participate each year in the National Patient Safety Awareness Week. This is sponsored by the National Patient Safety Foundation (NPSF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving patient safety and reducing medical errors. Each year there is a different emphasis on patient safety that includes some aspects of these broad categories:

  • Patient- and family-centered care
  • Patients as members of the health care team
  • Health care organizations engaging their communities
