Alexian Brothers Medical Center Launches Workforce Development Learning Institute

March 18, 2006 - Kathleen Prunty has been named chief development officer of the new Workforce Development Learning Institute at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village. The program, which includes multiple schools of study, was created as part of Alexian Brothers continuing commitment to personnel development.

Prunty has been vice president of human resources and hospital services at Alexian Brothers Medical Center since 2003, and serves as an adjunct professor of Leadership and Corporate Communication at Dominican University in River Forest.

"Kathleen was the clear choice for this position," said Roger Johnson, chief executive officer of Alexian Brothers Medical Center. "We are committed to this new dynamic program that will strengthen employee engagement while leveraging our staffs' knowledge to match our clinical excellence, support our organizational growth, and reinforce the values of the Alexian Brothers."

In her new lead role Prunty will ascertain educational needs and implement faculty-driven courses, in combination with technology-delivered programs, for Alexian Brothers Medical Center employees and physicians. Areas of focus will include Schools of Study in customer care, clinical and operational excellence, as well as leadership development, technology skills, and personal career management. More than 500 hospital employees have already taken part in initial Workforce Development Learning Institute orientation programs.

Prior to joining Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Prunty was director of patient support services at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago, and previously held education and patient support positions at LaGrange Memorial Hospital, LaGrange, and Silver Cross Hospital, Joliet.
