Philosophy

I believe in taking a holistic approach to patient's care.  In an age of increasing specialization, I believe it is important to assess and treat patients by looking at the entirety of their issues and risk factors. I focus on treating not only the symptoms that lead to the patient's visit but also the often overlooked associated conditions, risk factors, and inborn propensities that were at the origin of the problem.  My training in General and Interventional Cardiology, as well as the advanced training that I received in General Vascular Medicine, Endovascular Medicine and Vascular testing Interpretation allow me to take a 360 degree look at the available data and form my own interpretations and conclusions.  I try to be very judicious in the amount of testing I recommend, minimize invasive procedures and patient irradiation.  While the newest drugs and therapies often afford us the ability to treat safer and better, when all other factors are equal, I try to limit patient expense and take into account social circumstances.  I believe in maximizing evidence-based, proven therapies and focusing on prevention at the same time as intervening aggressively when necessary.  I advocate strongly on behalf of my patients in their relationship with health care institutions and insurance providers.

The pinnacle of my training was the final year of advanced vascular specialization.  During that time I worked side by side with vascular surgeons and non-invasive specialists.  This unique experience gives me special insight into the advantages, risks, and long term outcomes of the various endovascular and surgical interventions and allows me to guide patients in choosing the best treatment, whether offered by me or another specialist.  I believe no single specialty or physician can provide all the answers and treatments needed for the care of the complex conditions we are confronted with today.  I therefore believe that providing the best care for the patient requires working cooperatively with other specialists such as Internists, Podiatrists, Hematologists, Neurologists, Cardiac and Vascular Surgeons.  I believe in putting the patient's best interest first and devising treatment plans that take into account the patient's anatomy, medical and social background and lifestyle.
