Alexian Brothers Breast Cancer Ambassadors
The Alexian Brothers Breast Cancer Ambassador program began in April of 2012. Their mission is “To provide the survivorship community with encouragement, support and education by guiding relationships with survivors, local community and medical professionals.”
Cancer Institute staff members invited this amazing group of women, who have completed treatment for breast cancer through the Alexian Brothers Health System, to become our Ambassadors. Their experience provides both insight and positive guidance to help our patients and the community.
The Ambassadors have attended various educational and training sessions and have mentored breast cancer patients in different avenues. They have volunteered in many capacities throughout our Health System. They have raised funds for the Cancer Institute and have spoken at educational events.
The women who have become our Ambassadors are what make this program so unique and so powerful. It has been a delight to see this program flourish; affording the Cancer Institute a personal way to reach out to current patients, survivors and those yet to be diagnosed.
