John Werrbach

President and Chief Executive Officer Alexian Brothers Medical Center

John Werrbach has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of Alexian Brothers Medical Center, Elk Grove Village , Illinois .

Mr. Werrbach has been serving as the medical center's interim Chief Executive Officer since March 2007. Most recently, Mr. Werrbach was Chief Operating Officer and Executive Vice President of Hospital Operations for Alexian Brothers Medical Center , and previously served as Corporate Vice President of Operations with the Alexian Brothers Health System (ABHS), where he was responsible for developing and implementing system-wide operational and growth strategies.

Mr. Werrbach is an accomplished healthcare executive with expertise in operations turnaround, strategic planning, program development, clinical service integration, and physician recruitment and retention. He began his healthcare career at Alexian Brothers Medical Center as Clinical Laboratory Supervisor in the late 1970s, and later served as Chief Operating Officer and Chief Administrative Officer at Lincoln Park Hospital (formerly Grant Hospital ), Chicago. Mr. Werrbach has also held Administrative Director and Vice President positions with Merit Health Systems, LLC, and St. James Hospitals & Health Centers, Chicago Heights , Illinois . 

Mr. Werrbach earned his Bachelor's degree from Northeastern Illinois University , Chicago , and his MBA from Northern Illinois University School of Business, DeKalb , Illinois . He currently resides in South Elgin with his wife Nancy.
