ALEXIAN BROTHERS HEALTH SYSTEM NAMES NEW PRESIDENT AND CEO OF ST. ALEXIUS MEDICAL CENTER
(Arlington Heights, Ill.) - Alexian Brothers Health System has named Len Wilk, 55, as the next President and Chief Executive Officer of St. Alexius Medical Center, the health system’s 339-bed community hospital located in Hoffman Estates, Ill.
Wilk comes to Alexian Brothers Health System after more than 20 years with Aurora Health Care of Milwaukee, where he had served as President and Chief Administrative Officer of Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, Wis., since 2010. He earlier led two other Aurora Health Care hospitals in Sheboygan, Wis., and Milwaukee. He also served for more than four years as Vice President, Physician Support & Business Development, for Aurora Health Care.
“Len’s vision and experience, as well as his tested and thoughtful leadership, will be absolutely critical in helping St. Alexius continue to grow,” says Tracy Rogers, Alexian Brothers Health System Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer. “He has remarkable insights and a proven record of leading highly dynamic hospitals.”
In addition to fostering St. Alexius’ continued growth, Wilk aims to further develop patient services and to support the development of the new Alexian Brothers Women & Children’s Hospital, scheduled to open in April on the St. Alexius campus. Women’s services, including neonatal intensive care units, were among the major clinical programs that Wilk oversaw at Aurora Health Care’s hospitals in Grafton and Milwaukee.
He earned a bachelor’s degree in business management at the University of Illinois at Chicago and a master’s degree in health administration at Governors State University in University Park, Ill. Early in his career, he served as Director, Medical Staff Development, at St. Joseph’s Hospital & Health Care Center in Chicago, and as Corporate Manager, Physician Support Services, at Franciscan Sisters HealthCare System in Little Falls, Minn. Wilk succeeds Ed Goldberg, who resigned late last year after more than 18 years in the position.
